Happy Friday!
Plane snacks, con men, race cars, scandals, and baby dinos. Here's everything worth knowing, watching, and buying this weekend.
Let’s go.
🚨 BIG NEWS
Dog Sized Dinosaurs Discovered
Scientists uncovered a new species of teeny-tiny dino that once roamed Australia. Jurassic Park, but make it pocket-sized.
We salute this visionary for living his dream just in time for 4th of July.
Spider webs are covering Australia like snow.

📺 TV WORTH WATCHING
The end of 2 of the biggest, most culture defining shows of the decade is upon us.
The Bear
I personally like The Bear best when it makes me happy-cry. Lucky for me that’s what this final season does. Cousin Richie 4 Life. (hulu)
Squid Game
And on the other side of the pendulum, the final season of Squid Game ends with the darkness and violence that an unflinching critique of capitalism deserves. (Netflix)
That’s 11 hours of television to get through, but there are some good docs too:
Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything
Back when one woman was the media. Ruthless, legendary, morally flexible. She changed everything and there will literally never be another her. (hulu)
My Mom Jayne
Mariska Hargitay turns Olivia Benson on her own life. Her mother, the infamous Jayne Mansfield, died when she was 3. Olivia looks into her Mother’s life and choices, including the reveal that her Dad is not her biological father. (HBO)
Social Studies
Found this in the For Your Consideration Emmy screeners. Nominations are announced at the end of the month, and I have a feeling this doc on social media’s impact on kids will be included. Equal parts terrifying and necessary.(hulu)

🔥 Real Housewives of Miami
🎬 MOVIES WORTH WATCHING
🏎 F1: The Movie Full disclosure, I have not seen this but I loved Top Gun: Maverick and this looks like the same story but in cars so I’m sure I’ll love it. Especially in IMAX.
📚 BOOKS WORTH WATCHING
Rather than recommend just one, here’s a roundup of what all the big celebrity book clubs are reading right now. You're welcome.
Oprah: The River is Waiting by Wally Lamb
Multi-generational family saga set in New Orleans, with secrets, identity, and forgiveness. Classic Oprah territory: big feelings, big trauma, big redemption.
And she re-selected A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
The spiritual classic is back. The guide to ego death and awakening still hits. Might be time to write about it next week.
Reese: The Phoenix Pencil Company by Allison King
Written by a real-life software engineer, this one’s a quirky workplace novel about ambition, burnout, and a mysterious new hire with a strange agenda. Think: Severance meets Office Space, with a pencil empire.
Dua Lipa: Widow Basquiat by Jennifer Clement
Portrait of Suzanne Mallouk, Basquiat’s longtime partner, and the wild downtown NYC art scene. Gritty, beautiful, heartbreaking.
Kaia Gerber: Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan
A French classic written by an 18-year-old literary prodigy in the 1950s. A moody, seaside coming-of-age story about desire, manipulation, and existential boredom. Tres chic YA nihilism.
Jenna Bush: Happy Wife by Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores (2 excellent names)
Thriller about a lawyer who goes missing and the young wife everyone suspects
Emma Roberts: Lush by Rochelle Dowden-Lord
Four wine experts go on a four-day food and wine retreat that ends up changing their lives (and revealing their secrets). Like White Lotus at a vineyard.
Natalie Portman: The English Understand Wool by Helen DeWitt
Novella about a young woman raised in elite European circles discovering her mother might be a fraud. Think: Gossip Girl meets existential dread.
Dakota Johnson: Flashlight by Susan Choi
A 10 yr old American kid goes for a walk on the beach in Japan with her Dad, and he disappears. But literary.
Roxanne Gay: Marsha by Tourmaline
Poetic imagining of the life of Marsha P. Johnson, blending biography, and mythology.
The Cut: The Great Black Hope by Rob Franklin
Tackles race, legacy, and ambition in modern America through the lens of a rising political star. Sharp, timely, and already beloved by the literati.
Pretty much every other book club, including Good Morning America's, is reading the new Taylor Jenkins Reed book, Atmosphere set during the 1980’s Space Shuttle program. If you were alive then I think you know where this is going. If you weren't, don't google it.
🎧 PODCASTS WORTH LISTENING TO

TikToks best (and only?) listener is starting a podcast for grown-ups
The Binge Cases: Catch Me If You Ken
Telling people he was a billionaire’s son, a crypto mogul, and a tech genius, (sounds like every other guy in LA.) this guy promised people he would make them rich, then left a trail of heartbroken women in his wake. Until his victims fought back and found out who the real Ken was.

This is the investigative journalism we need.

🍅 FOOD WORTH EATING
It’s officially tomato season so it’s time to revisit Katie Couric’s “famous” tomato sandwich
Dubai Chocolate is hands down the food trend of the year. Shake Shack’s Dubai Chocolate Shake special was such a success it’s coming back nationally.
Undeniably, Chrissy Teigen knows food. Like have you tried the incredibly light and bouncy Strawberry Mochi pancake mix? But this tip for bringing single serving nacho cheese and chips (and jalapeno slices!) for long plane rides is revolutionary.
